What is Level 3?

This is equivalent to Access to Higher Education, A-Levels grades A to E or an Advanced Apprenticeship.

This qualification is designed to support progression within employment in a variety of sectors and in a number of job roles where an understanding of autism and knowledge of how to support autistic individuals is required.

Course description

The objectives of this qualification are to understand: how to adopt a positive approach to supporting autistic individuals.

the current legislative framework relating to autistic individuals and how different theories have developed over time
how to support and manage transitions for autistic individuals the range of therapeutic interventions and support available for autistic individuals and co-occurring conditions
how to support communication and social interaction for autistic individuals
how to develop an understanding of how autistic individuals may be vulnerable and the support worker’s role and responsibilities relating to safeguarding according to legislative requirements.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need a GCSE in English Grade 9-4 (A*-C) or Functional Skills English Level 2. Previous experience in the subject, through work or education, is desirable.
