What is Introduction?

This is an introductory level course for beginners and requires no formal qualifications to apply.

The course is a fun introduction to the subject of robotics in which you will work with the Microbit, an easy-to-use robot. You will program it to flash its lights, beep through its speakers, and drive a buggy around an obstacle course.

Course content

Most of the course content is practical, getting hands on with the computer program that controls the robot.

What can this course lead to?

Combined with other Northern College courses (such as Intro to Programming) this course could lead to other robotics themed courses such as More Robotics with the Microbit and Further Robotics.

What are the entry requirements?

No formal requirements; students will be required to have completed the Next Steps in Computers course, or already have digital skills equivalent to those listed in that course’s description.
