What is Introduction?

This is an introductory level course for beginners and requires no formal qualifications to apply.

We’ve all heard of Virtual Reality, but what is it, how does it work, and where is it headed? In this course you’ll learn what VR is and experience it first-hand using a headset and controllers. You’ll explore where the technology is headed and the benefits it can bring to society.

Course content

The course is a mix of discussion and research, learning about the history and future of VR, and practical tasks, actually using a headset and diving into a virtual world.

What can this course lead to?

Combined with other Northern College courses (such as Intro to Programming) this course could lead to other VR themed courses such as Creating Content for VR and Building VR Environments.

What are the entry requirements?

No formal requirements; students will be required to have completed the Next Steps in Computers course, or already have digital skills equivalent to those listed in that course’s description.
